How-to guides: Chromebook, Mac, Phone Link, a second number and 911

Each guide here solves one task step by step, based on the official help pages I read on . On a Chromebook, the practical route is a website in Chrome, because calling isn't among the Phone Hub features Google lists [1]. A Mac can relay an iPhone's cellular calls [2], or use a web dialer in Safari or Chrome when there is no iPhone. On Windows, Phone Link carries your phone's calls over Bluetooth, and with Bluetooth off the PC can't make or take them [3], so I set it against a browser dialer that needs no phone nearby. The second-number guide weighs an eSIM on a Dual SIM phone [4] against a VoIP number that rings in an app or a browser tab. The 911 guide starts from a plain limit: several web services can't reach emergency numbers, among them Google Voice's free plan [5] and WhatsApp [6]. For the wider picture, start with using a laptop as a phone or a number without a SIM card.
